What’s Project Timothy?

Who was Timothy? Timothy was a leader and missionary-pastor in the early church. He was a younger companion to the Apostle Paul, and Paul mentored, cared for, and loved him deeply. In fact, two New Testament letters were written by Paul to Timothy! Through Paul’s and Timothy’s friendship and ministry we witness the power of shared life, spiritual friendship, intentional discipleship, and consistent mentoring.

What is Project Timothy? Project Timothy is an intentional year-long service opportunity with Chi Alpha at The University of Vermont.

  • Post-college young adults will find full or part-time work in the Burlington, VT area. (College graduates have the option to raise missionary support to supplement part-time work.)

  • Fellows will volunteer a set number of hours with Chi Alpha in a ministry area that connects well with their gifts and passions. This might include small group leadership, one-to-one mentoring, worship leading, outreach to international students, graphic design, social media management, or other areas of ministry or administrative need.

  • Project Timothy fellows will participate in a monthly learning cohort. Readings and discussions will focus on the development of devotional life, workplace leadership, the integration of faith and work, and biblical theology.

  • Fellows will meet monthly with full-time XA staff for mentoring and prayer.

Interested individuals can arrange an in-person or online interview with Joe Gavin, XAVT Director, at joe@chialphavt.com.
